Love Can Come

love comes

Love is that elusive butterfly you seek
At times it seems to be just out of reach
Though you think you have it within grasp
Another lesson in life there is to teach.

Love is something we all want and need
To varying degrees we share it with another
Maybe just a smile or a kind word at times
Maybe our feelings exist, but we are unsure.

Love’s definition isn’t the same for everyone
For some love is fleeting, only for a night
They fall in love only for a physical embrace
Then they will forget how to call or to write.

We may hear a special loves that last a lifetime
Maybe we find it and experience all it can give
When that happens, other loves pale in comparison
This love gives to us a reason for which we live.

What if that love is lost for whatever reason
Can you love again, does such a love still exist
What if you feel there is a chance to be happy
Do you dare put your heart through another test.

The romantic believes that it can still happen
With heart on their sleeve they reach yet again
Who is to say if another will try to reach back
Only time will tell if you find joy or feel pain.

Some are afraid to try again and risk being hurt
Be true to your own heart and don’t hold back
Even you fail to find that special love once more
If you never try, you leave your heart to lack.

  1. Phyllis Sears says:

beautiful, I love it; those words are so true; yes I still believe in Love, but it certainly is an elusive butterfly for me; think I might be destined to be alone for the rest of my life; I miss you my friend; hugs and smiles always Phyllis
