Shifted Pain

We open our mind to think
To think is to at times dream
To dream is to be hopeful
Being hopeful can bring pain
That pain causes us to think.

When we heal, we start anew
Maybe we find a new path
Thinking that enough is enough
Maybe we try to forget the past
Trying again with new hope.

The mind sees what we want
The heart tends to hang on
When we feel trust broken
We blindly ignore the signs
And warnings get denied.

How many times is too much
Why do patterns get ignored
When neither seem to change
Moving on is often difficult
Maybe shifting the pain easier.
