Hang On?

You find someone who you are attracted to
Almost as if the stars aligned just for you
When they find that same attraction you feel
Hang on – this might be too good to be true.

You move ahead and things start to get serious
You feel a special bond, what more do you say
Feelings seem right and it is getting physical
Hang on – you don’t want this one to get away.

You’ve so many thoughts and words get shared
Some ring true and yet others make you wonder
Little cracks appear in the facade as you reflect
Hang on – maybe this was too good to be true.

Finally you have to admit to yourself the lies
Things came to light that left you feeling empty
It seems you weren’t the only one in their life
Hang on – things are coming out you didn’t see.

Life together at times is what we make of it
Maybe we dream it or just don’t want to admit
We might have been played by caring too much
Hang on – time to realize we’re not a good fit.
