Buttons, buttons and more buttons
We are surrounded by buttons today
Electronics, clothes, almost everywhere
Even the store when we try to pay.

There are figurative buttons we enjoy
Like those placed upon a human chest
Whether for enjoyment or just teasing
Even just a nice place our head to rest.

What about the mental buttons we have
Those that can trigger so many emotions
The ones that it seems others like to push
Forcing us to examine so many notions.

We need to leave those ones to themself
Their comments like water on a duck’s back
For they are no longer worth any of our time
It is in themself to find what it is they lack.

Easy for others to tell us what we should do
Not as easy for us a way around it to see
But those trying to bring us down so often
Aren’t any of our time or emotions worthy.
