In Recovery

I wanted to send out a Thank You
To friends that have stood by me
It seems it has been quite a ride
Not something you smile as you see.

Things finally came to the point
That my specialist I had to consult
Because pain and weakness prevailed
He examined and gave only one result.

Into surgery he sent me right away
Several hours did he calmly slave
With effort and three yard of sutures
Pieces of my heart he couldn’t save.

So I sit here with a renewed outlook
As if a transplanted heart to repair
Time and quiet to heal heart and mind
Appreciating also my friends who care.

Before you start to write your concern
It is of a figurative heart I relate
While the recovery and pain can be felt
For quiet healing it is my time to wait.

As I take this time to figure out my way
The words I’ve been writing seem to tell
Observant ones have felt my loss of life
For they read my words, feel them as well.

I thought I would include a photo of tonight’s consulting physician:

  4. I think i’ve backtracked to one year’s worth of reading. Things have gone South from the last time in 2014 when I came by each week to read; and I recalled the conversations we have shared. Perhaps, as we step into 2016, things can be (or have been) better, for you and I alike.
