A New Path

It was dark, only a faint red glow
Where was he, he didn’t know
Just a thumping sound to hear
Yet he felt another was so near.
He followed the path with care
Seeing broken pieces still there
Knowing he had created a few
Trying to clear the path anew.
It felt crowed, he must escape
As others began to take shape
He’d know he wasn’t here alone
He stifled yet another groan.
The path had been long, winding
Back and forth, he kept fighting
But when clarity finally he found
He still felt too many still around.
It wasn’t without tears and pain
He ripped away, leaving once again
Feeling to stay would feed the curse
No longer wanting to make it worse.
It’s never easy to give up on a dream
Always distractions or so it would seem
But maybe everyone needs a new start
So he fought his way out of her heart.
