All Around Us

rain

It doesn’t matter where you live
Nature seems to apply to our life
The elements relate to emotions
Ranging from happiness to strife.

Like sand that sifts through fingers
We realize how time can slip away
Try as we might to hold on tightly
It slips away no matter what we say.

As fallen leaves blowing in the wind
Are thoughts of what might have been
Who can say what the right might be
Knowing the right why, where or when.

Like snow blowing through the trees
We scatter our doubts and still dream
We open our hearts and extend a hand
Still things aren’t always as they seem.

Like rain the runs down a window pane
We can’t see clearly past our own tears
Yet we know we can’t remain as we are
Trying once again, despite lingering fears.
