One So Small

stars

I jumped as high as I could
As I reached out for a star
I still couldn’t grab ahold
Of course, it burns too far.

We still reach with our hope
A drive motivating us along
Maybe we are moved by another
By a thought or just a song.

Realizing we’re insignificant
Compared to the universe above
Stare at the glittering expanse
And feel power, order and love.

We all feel our own self-worth
Pride can make us stand up tall
But remember in the grand scheme
We are still relatively small.
