Extinction

barren

Thoughtful day on what society is coming to be
Looking around today, there is so much to see
Was I raised in that much simpler a time to live
Maybe parents had morals and discipline to give.

A law was passed to fine those with droopy pants
We have politicians passing no laws, just on rants
State after state decides weed is safe to smoke
And to discipline a child is now some kind of joke.

If I were to treat overs with the respect some gave
My father, I am sure, would turn over in his grave
For today most seem to be live only for one’s self
They’ve put feelings for any others up on a shelf.

What kind of world are we passing on to our kids
Almost as if common sense the majority forbids
Do we imagine that if we just let it continue on
Whatever beauty we see will not soon be gone.

Nothing is going to change the trends in one day
But I can’t be alone in wanting to stand up and say
If discipline and training don’t come back to family
There won’t be a future left for a generation to see.
