The wind swirled and raced
Black clouds filled the sky
Mother Nature threw a fit
Too many could only ask “Why”.
The trees began to shudder
Knowing limbs were to torn
Hail began to pelt the street
Loud wailed the warning horn.
Tearing through with no mercy
The twister came full force
Houses, cars, buildings alike
Were cleared along its course.
Thankfully most had the notice
Able to take shelter and wait
Having been through this before
Hoping friends weren’t too late.
The all clear sounded its tones
Some came finding it passed by
Others found their houses gone
But held family, breathing a sigh.
The damage will be repaired again
Some memories won’t ever be found
But at least they had each other
Blessedly spared this time around.
They’ll pick up the pieces of life
Help friends and neighbors to see
That as long as they remain strong
They can build and plant a new tree.
