Who Knew

path divides

Who knew that life would take this turn
That the foundations of love would crumble
While nothing can be guaranteed to last
Neither foresaw this a reason to stumble.

Who knew that others would choose sides
Weren’t they supposed to be friends of each
While personalities are always fickle things
Neither thought this division they’d reach.

Who knew that feelings could be so painful
That the shared lives would just fall apart
While two can become so close over time
Neither saw this happening to their heart.

Who knew that there would be such emotions
Weren’t they meant to always remain friends
While it might take time to ease all the pain
Neither believe that they know how this ends.
