Taking another moment to breathe
Splitting more wood for the fire
Both heat the house and cook over
No thought I might ever retire.
Corporate jobs seldom exist here
Rural life, a lot of give and take
But families are still very strong
Values are still what we can make.
You do whatever it takes to live
No time wasted sunup to sunset
Yet it is still forth everything
Even if you give more than get.
No more time to lose in thought
Still more wood to split and stack
Daylight will be gone once more
When the sun comes up, I’ll be back.
Great story as always.:)
Thank you always for your kind words.
You are welcome. I also wanted to add that the rhyme adds depth to the piece. I was so tired last night that I was literally falling asleep when writing a comment to you!
Funny, I find reading my words puts me to sleep too. 🙂 Thanks for the smile. I enjoy your posts and comments.
LOL!
Work can be like Groundhog day, just keep returning to the same stack. Lovely poem!
