He thought of better days
those with his family
they were close
truly happy
loved
times change
children get busy
time seems so fleeting
then came the sudden loss
death seems so cruel
one’s never ready
feeling alone
mortal
depression hits
life isn’t important
trying to move forward
one foot before the other
finding hope to share
giving of oneself
feeling again
smiling
reaching out
words to express
putting them all together
stanza by stanza
feelings out
rhyming.

  4. Wow, very effective visual form. Once I read the word “depression” I felt the expanding and contracting lines as gyrations of emotional states. Nice. (:
