I remember those days when young
Thinking and whining “Do we have to go”
Those visits to see all the family again
Talking to people we don’t really know.
Then you age, even if you don’t grow up
And you understand how important it is
To relate each face with some family tree
Knowing they are relatives or hers or his.
When the years advance and we slow down
There are so many new faces to put names
You find those that teach young ones to respect
And which are really just playing the games.
Family is precious, something to keep close
All too often life pulls apart the family ties
Take the time to look for the strength and good
Don’t listen to those full of jealousy and lies.
Too often we find a face missing in time
We are only given so much family to share
It is up to each one to make the best of life
Make sure your family know that you care.
