I spent the afternoon visiting
Friend and her family as she lay
Hospital bound these many days
News left us with little to say.
Palliative care starts tomorrow
Not much time left it is told
So many memories to re-share
Summer heat still leaves me cold.
To lose friends way too early
Is this the legacy that we leave
For all this technology we have
We poison, leaving us to grieve.
I think what a price we now pay
So many can’t see any other way
One day life will force a change
No more tear, nothing left to say.
