Thoughtful Days

(not me)

(not me)

Thoughtful days of times past
What triggers the images to come
Sitting back reflecting with a smile
Good memories, we all have some.

Grabbing the bike to deliver tv guide
Back when it was needed at home
Dodging cracks and twists in the walk
All around town we could safely roam.

Back when a dollar could entertain
As soda and peanuts were our treat
We could meander or cross backyards
We needn’t fear the strangers we meet.

I’d hate to be a child of these days
All electronic and fearing time outside
It will be small town living I prefer
I’m not too old still to take a ride.
