Life is a Garden

We all know that life has cycles
Like a garden giving us its fruit
It requires work and some attention
Else what we give won’t even take root.

Like the soil that we break to plant
You must dig deep within yourself
For if the seed just sits on the surface
Better if just left on the shelf.

Just as you must tend to the growth
Paying attention to weeds and drought
If you don’t put the work into life
You’ll be left with nothing but doubt.

As the rain nourishes those tender plants
We must work to overcome our inner fears
Soften your heart as you would the soil
Life will bring joyous and hurtful tears.

When things start to grow, no time to waste
Tending is needed even more at this time
Distractions can keep us from doing the work
Letting prey to steal or weeds to climb.

Not everyone has what it takes to garden
But in life we always need to grow
Whether friend, lover or maybe something more
Without trying, you might never know.

Without the effort and patience it takes
If you expect only failure and strife
Without caring, working and sharing as well
You’ll get nothing back out of this life.

This poem really speaks to me. The ideas are just what I’ve been feeling. Also, the rhythm and flow of it are pretty awesome, too.

This is gorgeous! I want to read it over and over again.

  4. This one touches my heart. I must say, after many years of drought ( I think I was tending the wrong garden, actually), my life harvest is bountiful. 🙂

I love gardening, and you painted the picture beautifully, as usual.

This is beautiful and really speaks volumes my dear friend. Your words always speak volumes straight from and to the heart. Hugs
