Like the old song ‘Rainy Days and Monday’
I agree that they always get me down
Not that the weekend was such a treat
But Monday seems to bring out my frown.

Why do we have to let this one day
Set the tone for the rest of the week
Slowly crawling toward a Friday rush
Saturday’s solitude next will we seek.

Not everyone works the same schedule
So they have their own Monday to address
Taking whatever time off that is allowed
Before fighting the work day of stress.

I’m sure someone finds that work is fun
But we can’t all have a job like that
For the rest we put in the required hours
Til we finish our shift and run like a cat.

  1. C.J. Black says:

And they all fall and form the perfect piece.

  2. Ah yes, Monday rolls along again. I hope it is a good start to your week as now I have read your poem and that helps my day immensely xx

  3. Counting down to Friday; the required hours are never-ending! How do you do that, really – each time you write, you write with some a perfect choice of words!
