Assorted Short Bits

The New Year is upon us
Make the most of friends
As we get older things change
Isn’t that true – depends.

We might not always be wealthy
Or have a life of comfort and ease
But if we have friends and family
We will be a lot easier to please.

Have you ever watched a butterfly
Envied it flittering across a field
Always looks so pretty and free
Unless it ends up on your windshield.

I’m thankful for the gift of words
Too often we have no way to share
But as I’ve found friends here
Words allow us to show that we care.

Nice poem.. I like it when people focus on the little things of life that hold great value.. I like this poem in that I as a reader am able to connect with the things written here, like envying a butterfly or being around friends and family.. that connection is the success of poetry!
