The Value of Prayer

I ask my prayer knowing it will be heard
For I trust in the words I have read
I don’t try to change another’s belief
But I know too many things go unsaid.

Compassion will compel us to offer a word
In behalf of someone in their time of need
We are moved to help them in so many ways
Whether in thought or word or doing a deed.

But when we are feeling a need of our own
When we ask for guidance or whisper a plea
Do we listen when others try to help or console
Or does pride tell them “Don’t worry about me”.

Too many deliver their prayer and then they ignore
What might be an answer, for it’s not as they desire
I’d offer a wish that when you ask for that help
You open your heart, leave a way for him to inspire.
