Free Write Friday – Be Careful

In response to the picture prompt presented, I offer the following…

How many times have we taken a path
That might not have been right for us
Looking back we finally see our folly
Hopefully before we become like Icarus.

Icarus decided he needed to leave Crete
But couldn’t find a way that made sense
So he molded his wings from feathers and wax
The results still make some of us wince.

Be careful that you don’t likewise jump
Taking a path that will leave you in pain
Too easy it is to just follow your heart
Not thinking of being hurt, even once again.

In some circles Icarus was daring and bold
But to others he was impulsive and headstrong
He wouldn’t listen to the advice he was given
Losing his life was the ultimate of being wrong

  1. Lessons and mythology! Beautiful blend for this prompt! I was expecting that people would be writing in regard to religion based on the picture so this my dear was a pleasant and wonderful surprise! Thank you! xox

Yes, thus my comment. Icarus hit me first although I thought most would feature the religious aspect. Thank you for your prompts and for your welcome visits to my blog. Still looking forward to your new project.
