Crowded Solitude

Going through the day quietly
Alone in your own thought
Even with those knocking
It is quiet that is sought.

Have you ever felt all alone
While standing in a crowd
Wondering if you should scream
If it would be heard aloud.

Quiet solitude while surrounded
Like a walking dream you stroll
The mind won’t turn itself off
After a while it takes a toll.

At some point the thoughts collide
Something will have to give
The mind will break the silence
And dreams either perish or live.

Solitude is a choice, but loneliness hurts, abandonment hurts.
