Step On My Tongue

Oh what a tiny thing it is
That wagging thing we have
Yet it can give us so much pleasure
Or make us feel we need salve.

Everyone has a need to control
It is small but it can start a fire
It can bring us closer together
Or it can brand one as a liar.

The sensations that it can create
Can range from giving goosebumps
To maybe raising a few eyebrows
Or causing us to take a few lumps.

So if you can be careful with it
You might make someone smile
If you should let it flap too much
Might be better to go walk a mile.
