What Do You Think About

When you start your day, what do you think about
Do you start by making coffee to get your mind going
Something hot and strong to lift your spirit again
Pour it in the cup and savor the aroma that is building.

When you start your day, do you roll out hesitantly
Coaxing the old bones to the right position once more
Popping and cracking as they move back in place
Moving to the bathroom as your feet finally hit the floor.

When you start your day, are you rushing kids to get ready
Waking them up and guiding them to the light of another day
Gathering fresh clothes and making them move out of bed
Finishing breakfast, making lunches, starting them on their way.

When you start your day, is it to the computer that you run
What do you check first as you get your eyes opened to see
Facebook, email, or any other sites that draw your attention
Or do thoughts of someone special take you where you want to be.

When you start your day, whatever the path that you choose to take
Thinking back you will know what was most important for your day
For that is where you allowed your first thoughts to take you
And it shows the direction that your heart led you without having to say.

Great poem and so true to life in all ways; you are such a wonderful writer

  2. Cheryl says:

My days begin with my bones and joints being creaky yet glad that they still work. My feet touch the floor and walk to my grandson’s room to arouse him from slumber and get ready for school. I like my time w him in the morning. We have a routine, first hugs then breakfast and watch cartoons, then it’s time to clean up and get dressed to start our day. His eyes slowly awaken and prepare for a new day of learning. He brightens each day for me and reminds me what life is all about.
    Hugs and love
