Words Said Aloud or Not

Words are so useful in expressing our self
But at times what is not said is more telling
With a look or a touch you can say so much
Even quietness can be as loud as yelling.

When you open your mouth to let things go
Do you always remember what you said
Words can cause joy, laughter, sorrow and pain
At times behind the words more is read.

When you are asked for a thought or answer
Maybe the reason that you feel you could die
Is that the words may hurt or disappoint
But if you say nothing at all, is it still a lie?

Just because you hide what you should have said
Doesn’t mean that the words won’t be felt
Too many times the answers already known
Before the words, or the cards, have been dealt.

  1. Phyllis Sears says:

So very thoughtful and true; words can make or break but so can thoughts when the person knows you well enough to know what you are thinking without words.
