Prayers

How many times have we heard of the value of prayer
Many have felt it and realize that it is of value
There are some that use the words hoping it works
There are friends and family of which we ask help.

Some might not be thought of as spiritually active
They seem to go through the motions with little concern
But who of us can read in their heart the purpose they have
Nor should we judge them by standards that we think best.

I will admit that I may have used words in vain
They are all tied to our culture whatever our faith
But in my heart I know that there is something special
And I have to trust that I am on the path that will last.

So while there will be some that scoff at these words
Never let go of the chance to help someone in need
You never know when the shoe will be on the other foot
And it will be their prayers that are directed toward you.
