With each passing moment that I ponder
It becomes increasingly hard to understand
What drives some people to do what they do
When it should be clear you’ve extended your hand.
Maybe though you thought you said it so clearly
There was something that you just couldn’t accept
Only to find it had no change in their choices
So you pull away so they don’t see you have wept.
Life it too short to ignore what’s important to you
If it isn’t something that someone else can feel
When they make choices that make you uneasy
Back away and just let yourself recover and heal.
If by chance they feel the loss of your cares
And should they desire to have that feeling return
They will make the changes or at least try to explain
Letting the friendship remain that you both seem to yearn.
