Remember

I remember the date we were married
How at 18 we thought we knew so much
But we made it work with each other
And there was always that tender touch.

I remember the date of our son
The changes in our lives that it brought
Again we thought we knew it all
But a new life shows we can still be taught.

I remember the date of our daughter
Another joy that we shared once again
We shared so much there with the laughs and the tears
We didn’t know how we might feel life’s pain.

I remember the date that I lost you
How someone’s carelessness makes life cease
I still reach out at night and feel for your touch
And know that at least you rest in peace.

Always a smile in remembrance….
